police say they have taken a teenager into custody for punching a young woman on the face of pennsylvania avenue. the attack was unprovoked. no word on that if the suspect was tied to another attack last week. new at 11:00, two officers nearly escaped serious injuries after and out of control driver crashed into their police cruiser. this shows what a high impact crash this was. there is more on how this all unfolded. >> there are a few close calls, but few as close as this one. two prince george's county police cruisers almost unrecognizable after a collision. >> there is never a routine call in our profession. >> they were out of their vehicles at 2:00 a.m. on

saturday, directing traffic away from another accident. and suv coming off of 495 plowed into one of the cruisers. >> the vehicle was going at a high rate of speed and struck one of veracruz ears which struck a second cruiser. >> the officers turned on their red and blue and emergency lights and stepped out of their cruisers. >> wanted struck our vehicle, it went about 100 feet down the road. >> authorities suspect that the suspect had been drinking. when asked to comment, he abolished the accident, but did not want to talk about it. officer stewart and corporate johnson, by placing their cruisers between oncoming traffic and citizens, prevented the driver of this car from

most of the outages were caused by equipment failure. pepco has begun a five-year reliability improvement program. they also plan to address this tomorrow morning during a news conference. lawmakers took action today, demanding a full account of missteps at arlington national cemetery. they had to come up with a plan to fix any errors that were found. investigators found hundreds of on mark and wrongly marked grave sites. visitors at the cemetery hope that this will be fixed. >> it is important that these people are put to rest properly. >> the senate wants to organize their records and have better to the occasion with veteran families. more speed cameras are up and running in our area. at least three local speed

get everything that they want. >> it is clear that taxes are not going up on anybody in the middle of this recession. we are discussing how long we should maintain current tax rates. >> for democrats, making this deal is really a tough pill to swallow. >> we are moving in that direction. we are moving their against my judgment and my view of things. >> somebody making $62,000 a year could see their taxes go up quite $200 starting next month. extending all of the cuts means that somebody would make it -- would keep $450,000. it is a costly deal at a time of war about the deficit. none of the cuts are paid for. keeping taxes at this -- will add nearly four trillion dollars to the national debt. this deal could be set in the

next few days. the white house will love to move this along. republicans promised they will do nothing else until this tax issue is finished. >> a controversial doctor is set to begin at an area of reproductive clinic. he is expected to start working at the germantown health services. he has performed late term abortions in the past and may offer to perform them. gas prices are continuing to spike. regular unleaded is averaging $2.94 across the country. that is a 14-cent jump over the last month. in the metro area, and gas prices are averaging $3.30 per gallon. gas prices reached an all-time high this year.

facebook has a new look. it debuted tonight. it will be reorganized. it includes a new bio section that not only includes who you are and where you live. users that have made these which says that once you make the change, it is impossible to switch back. it has become a familiar sight. a group of volunteers put the elaborate trains together. this thursday, president obama will like the national christmas tree. that ceremony will take place around 5:00 in the evening. >> it will be called for the next several nights. this will come wednesday night and into thursday morning. are you ready for single digits out in the mountains? it will be cold.

1998. the winds are up around 20 miles per hour. 21 miles per hour at reagan national airport. it feels like 19 at dulles. winchester feels like 22. we will look at wind chill factors tomorrow morning in the mid teens across the area. this brought up the scattered snow flurries yesterday morning. we do have a lot of high pressure off to the west. a very tight pressure gradient. we also have a winter storm warning. we have to go off to the west. you could see upwards of 8-12 inches of snow over the next couple of days. this is a until tuesday at 7:00 in the morning.

it will be a windy night tomorrow morning as you head off to work or to school. here is our futurecast over the next 48 hours. clouds will stick around. the snow showers to the west of oz. this will allow for cold temperatures, especially during the overnight hours. tomorrow, even though temperatures will be around 40 degrees, when chill factors will make it feel like it is in the 20's. wind gusts are around 30-35. this is the next several days. by saturday, 46 degrees looks pretty good. for this time of year, still below average. bundle up tomorrow morning. it is going to feel when the end cold all day long. >> coming up
